I have always loved Halloween, especially dressing up! As a kid I always pulled together some costume (read: creative mess) with the encouragement of my wonderful mom and later sewing them with the guidance of my amazing Granny.
I especially love making original costumes for some of the special kids in my life. The rule is, I will only make a costume for a child who is not old enough to request what they want to be--otherwise their expectations are way too high, and sheesh, I want creative control! I usually only make one costume per year (and this year's applicant has already been accepted--post to come at the end of October). Here are a few of my favorites from years past:

Oh yes I did.... but don't worry the trim is vegan friendly:)
A Smart Baby's 1st Trick-or-Treat
I took full advantage of the fact that this little one could not yet walk (or
crawl for that matter) when I made this Smarties Candy costume, complete with
twisted up wrapper bottom.
For the Dough Boy in all of us...
This is my favorite type of costume, super easy, clever, and relevant:) Just a onesie, tights, and a few quick homemade accessories and this baby is ready for the first of many great Trick-or-Treats!
